Passepartout celebrates Chinese New Year

It's so happy to get the gorgeous painting Passepartout from Jui.
My name is Tanna. I work in Taipei, Taiwan and stay in my home town
Tainan to have Chinese New year recently. (That's why I met Jui)

Last Sunday was the Chinese New Year's Eve here. the little painting
had dinner with my family. Here is the Chinese tradition: we always
have a dinner together with beloved family on CNY's Eve. There used to
be chicken, meat, and fish on table. And adults will give red
envelopes with money in it to parents, elders, and kids to send our
best wishes. those who accept the red envelopes have to say something
blessings or regards in return.

Temples here on CNY's EVE are all closed till the midnight. So after
dinner we went to the temple to wait for the opening. It is said that
the person who celebrates the first burning incense stick will earn
the extra luck! Passepartout also joined my family to wait for the
moment of the door open!

It was brilliant that the temple staffs collected all incense sticks
together so that everyone was the champion. Many people brought their
charm amulets here and circled them on the fire to pray for the luck.
Passepartout wanted to get closer but we took it far away since it was
kinda dangerous for him. ;)

CNY vacation will go on for the whole week. Next week Passepartout
will go to Taipei, the biggest city in Taiwan. Here we will see what's
going on next!

From Montreal to Taiwan

Passepartout is having such a great blast!!!
He travelled from Montreal, transfered in New York, Japan and finally arrived in Tainan, Taiwan
Tainan is located in south of Taiwan, a country side of Taiwan.
It is a sunny day with 18C, a perfect weather :)
He will soon be traveling to Taipei the capital city of Taiwan.

Here are some photos we would love to share with you!

It's early morning @8am, he skip away the snow and cold,
arrive safely in New York Airport. The tiny big apple is somewhere far behind.
But it's a good feeling with a perfect weather with NO Snow!!! :)

After more then 24 hours on the fly, we arrive in Tainan south of Taiwan.
If you like a city with historic monuments and good local snack, this is the best place to be.
There are always lots of traffic with bikes and cars on the busy street.

The most well known drink in Taiwan is "bubble tea". It is tea, milk with tapioca.
As a tour, Passepartout have to try it for sure!! guess what! HE LOVES IT!

This is the 40s ancient local corner store. There are lots of goodies for kids!!!
little snack, cookies, drinks, news papers...etc.

And of course, Passepartout have to try to read the local news paper as well!!

The 50s old style hair salon,
It is very common for Taiwanese people to go to salon to wash hair and also updo hair.
Passepartout had this luxury relax time to dry his hair.

How can we do things with out money,
So, Passepartout gone to the bank to withdraw lots $$$$ to get ready for shopping!

A local market with local people. People here are so nice and so welcome.
They find out Passepartout is from Belgium, they were so happy to give him a free cauliflower.

The Confucial temple, Passepartout is going with students go to visit the confucial temple. It is very famous in Tainan!!!

So, so far so good!!! :) soon Passepartout will go visit the Capital city Taipei and meet up with the next adventure~ As the host me, Jui will be passing on Passepartout. And I will update with the last photo :)  It is a great fun!!!!! I LOVE THIS PROJECT!!! let's hope it will be going on and on...

cheer~

On the map

Lichtervelde, Belgium to Montreal, Canada, to Taiwan: a grand total of 12446km travelled.  Not bad for a small painting.  A big thank you to everybody that had the painting so far!

And a thank you to Google for providing the map!

Skiing and handover

Passepartout had a gorgeous day watching  everyone ski, sun was shining and - 18°c .

Some acrobatic skiing Passepartout spent the afternoon watching !!

Après ski was a must after all that fresh air !! So Passepartout enjoyed a few pints before heading back to Montreal where we handed over the painting to Jui who is going to take it to Taiwan !! Good Luck Passepartout.... it's been a blast !!

Passepartout spends the night in an igloo!

We had a fab time in the igloo and survived the cold!! Here are some of the photos:

Passepartout met with Rami from Finland who is in charge of building the whole snow village in Montreal. First time they are doing it here so it was a huge challenge for him. Rami is in charge of the ice hotels in Finland and Norway, so this was really Passepartout first VIP meet and greet !

PPT takes a seat in the hotel lobby !

PPT gets thirsty in the Amarula bar

PPT takes another rest in the lounge before dinner !

And finally... PPT on his way home after a cosy , but cool nights sleep in the igloo started to misbehave... "NO PPT , DO NOT EAT THE YELLOW SNOW !!!"

Passepartout in Montreal

Well the painting has arrived safe and sound in Montreal, Canada. We are hoping that he will survive the -22°C forecast for this weekend! But just in case I have given him a wooly hat to keep him warm!

We are very excited today because we will be bringing it with us to the snow village here in Montreal where we will be staying in an igloo!
www.snowvillagecanada.com  Check it out!  More photos to follow!

I have been telling people about the adventures of Passepartout 365 and everyone thinks its a great idea! They only wish that they could personally bring it around the world themselves!

So, stay posted for more photos.

Going.. going.. gone!

The little painting Passepartout 365 is on it's way around the world.  Alison and Miguel received the painting on New Year's Eve/Day and took it to Canada (how's that for a start..).  Now it's literally in their hands to let it travel further.  Hope to see you back by next year, adios!
