Confirmation: a couple of local internationals wants to take Passepartout on his first stage of his quest around the world: he's leaving on New Year's Eve/New Year's Day. The exact moment has yet to be determined, but it'll probably be somewhere between the champagne and coffee..

Ok to go!
Passepartout is the second attempt for one of my paintings make a journey around the world. How it works? I give the painting to somebody I know, they can keep it for a (short) while, and they send me a picture. That way, I know where the painting is (roundabouts).
They then give the painting to somebody they know, so the painting keeps travelling. The purpose of the experiment is to see if my painting can go around the world, full circle, in 365 days. It's a wee bit inspired by Jules Vernes' novel 'Around the world in 80 days'.
But 80 days would be a bit short for a painting.
My first attempt, by the way, was Phileas 365, who took off from Lichtervelde, Belgium, in March 2010. He did go as far as New Zealand (halfway the globe), but then all went silent. I consider this my first painting as Missing in Action. Check out Phileas' blog.
This experiment is a continuation of my 'regular' travelling paintings - paintings that people can keep for a month and then journey on, without a goal of circling the globe. Check those paintings out here.
So, Passepartout is set to go, keep an eye on him and his travels!
